Our background
Mount Pierre Pastoral Station is owned by the members of the Mount Pierre Pastoral Aboriginal Corporation. The corporation was established on the 23rd of November 1988.
The Station consists of 217,741 hectares located east of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley Region. The corporation has historically sourced revenue from the sale of cattle and from agistment arrangements.
In recent years 77,917 hectares known as the Louisa Valley have been subleased to Yougawalla Cattle Company.
The pastoral lease was purchased by the Commonwealth Government for MPPAC and the land is held as ‘Exclusive Possession Native Title’ lands. Reference to Pastoral Lease area, Lot 1564, Pin 121222881.
The property cannot be sold without the consent of the Gooniyandi Native Title Representative Body. Four Aboriginal communities exist within the property boundary including: Mimbi Community (Lot 510), Galeru Gorge Community (Lot 38) Mingalkala (Lot 786) and Moongardie.
Each community site has its own title independent from the pastoral lease.
